Last two Tim TAgs!

Well the Tim Holtz 12 Tags of Christmas are sadly over. :( But I played along with each one this year, and I had so much fun. I learned a lot of new things, and made some tags I'm very happy with...and some that I think I may have had to improvise a little too much on. lol
Here are my final two tags from 2009!! HUGE thanks to Tim for all the time and energy he puts into these every year...Especially this year under the circumstances. I've added to my TH collection of products throughout the 12 tags, and I'm still waiting on some goodies from ScrapFan...can't wait for them to arrive! btw, if you're reading this before the end of Sunday Dec. 13th...they're having a huge sale, 30% off all reg. price merchandise...hop on over!

Now, in other equally exciting news...The Scrapping Nook Inc. is officially no longer. They had a very successful firesale this weekend, which I was soooo happy to be able to be a part of! It was a time of mixed emotions for sure, but I think in the end they're relieved to have this off the radar before Christmas. Now we can all look ahead with anticipation to the GRAND OPENING OF THE SCRAPPING NOOK LTD!!!!

I believe it is scheduled for January 9th right now, but that could potentially change. They're moving to a new store in WELLAND, in a super great location, and Janice Veltkamp is the new owner! Please pop by the forum (click link above)and stop in to say hello!

Purple Onion Designs is having a winter sale!! 25% off all stamps until Dec. 15th! This is a great deal! All of their stamps are unmounted red rubber that make BEAUTIFUL impressions!

I have used the flourishes from the Ornamentals set on all of my tags until today's tag. lol

Speaking of today's tag...here it is!

Early 1900's music background was used on my lamp post tag too! :)

Day 3 tags!

Here they are! Today's cool technique was making a plaid with your alcohol inks...I'm not very good at it yet though. lol
HEre's what my plaids look like before cutting them up for the tags...

Thanks for stopping by!

Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas!

I Love this time of year!! I love following Tim Holtz 12 tags of Christmas every year, and especially this year, since he almost didn't do them! {GASP!!!}

I'm playing along this year, with a goal of doing all 12 tags with him...Don't hold your breath. lol

So far, so good though...here are my first two day's worth of tags. ;0)

I'm even doing multiples, so I have a few extra to go on the goodies our family delivers to neighbours on Christmas Eve!

Day One tags..

I don't have any of the Christmas TH stamps, so I had to improvise, but I was glad to pull out this old SU! set and my new POD flourish stamp!

Day two tags

I did have his frame stamp that he used for today's tag! On day one I used #5 shipping tags, and for day two I cut 3.5 X 6" tags, and cut the corners to make them into tags. My desk is such a huge mess right now that I can't find my cropadile to make the proper holes for the ribbon! lol

Anyway, this is my first two days worth! Who else is playing along?

UHU sample review

I got my UHU sample in the mail last week, and it was a total surprise! When I requested it she responded saying that they were all out for November...so it was a really happy mail day when it arrived!

When I got my hot little hands on this glue stick I really wanted to give it a good test!
This is the ONLY adesive I used on both of these projects(with the exception of the self-adhesive pearl centering the pointsettia)! I used the glue stick to apply the paper to the clipboard, as well as the ribbon..and the pointsettia...and the bond is strong enough for me to actually pick up the clipboard by holding only the pointsettia petals! I'm very pleased with this glue stick! The glue goes on purple, and dries clear. When I saw how well it held the ribbon and pointsettia, I decided to add a little sparkle as well...and since it went on purple I could easily see where I had applied it. Then it did indeed dry completely clear, so it's just shimmery beautiful, no tint to the dazzling diamonds glitter. It's holding the glitter well, it's not rubbing off now that the glue is dry.
If you're looking for a new adhesive, I think this is one definately worth a try! I'm totally impressed with it!

Thank you UHU for the great sample and the clipboard! As you can see, my 2 year old daughter even got to help 'embellish' before I was able to snap the picture. lol

Take a look over here on the UHU blog
for your chance to request a free Sample in December!

Getting Ready for Christmas!

Gosh I'm late getting on here to post. lol I've been running a month long Get ready for Christmas crop over on the Scrapping Nook. You can still do any of the challenges and enter into the first week in December, so head on over and check it out!! There is very exciting news over there as well! ;) The Nook is under new management, and I have been asked by the new owner to join her Regular DT which is such an honour for me! I'll be joining my sister, Karen Thompson, as well as Jen Backler, and Heather Goodes the copic Queen! It's going to be a fantastic adventure!

In the mean time I'm going to share just a little of what I've been up to lately!

Santa and me when I was about 5. :0)

Love this colour combo! On this card I've combined both dry and wet embossing.

Love making these! I have this one on my door rather than a wreath! ;0)

The cover of my December Daily album for this year!

Made with the leftovers from the following layout. I also used an old Club Scrap stamp and some pretty flower soft!

My baby girl all wind blown last summer. New Harmonie product! All Canadian!

Some cards made with the wax paper resist technique. This represents the only time in the last 6 months I've used my iron! lol

Lots of RED!

Playing with some old stuff...microbeads! I love them!

Thanks for looking, I've just completed my project with the UHU glue stick and will be posting my review in the next day or two! This is a glue stick worth getting! ;0)

UHU sample!

I recently found the UHU blog through a friend and requested one of their samples to try. In a week or two after emailing the, I got the sample, and had some fun! This is the sample I was sent.
And here's the information on it!

I did a few layouts with it, and here they are!

I found it super easy to use, and it didn't clog or gum up at all, like some other glue runners I've used. I did however find it wasn't strong enough to hold heavier or more textured stuff down. All the bulk on these layouts were put down with glue dots. I always use glue dots for the bulk, as I've never found any glue runner that will hold, and I really don't expect to! Different adhesives for different applications. It worked well on the photos and paper though! I found it was even relatively easy to re-position the papers just after I'd adhered them. If I tried to re-position too many times though, I need to add more of the glue runner.
Bottom line, great tool for paper and photos! :)

Smitten with circles in September!

It seems I've been rather drawn into circles this month!
I've also been purging older stash, and trying to finally organize my scrap space. We have lived in this house for over 2 years now, I think it's time to finally do the job. lol In my sorting and purging I came across LOADS of stickers. You know the ones, CM, Sandy Lion, Mrs. Grossman, Provo Craft...some of them got the boot, but I actually LIKE quite a few of them. This isn't to say that I'd buy them again, but since I paid for them once, I might as well use them...right?
So I've challenged myself to use up a load of my old stickers! I also have enough ribbon to take me to the moon and back, and die cuts out the wazoo...and chipboard...and rubons! lol In my effort to use up stash, I've committed to using at least 1 old sticker on each layout I do for at least the next month. I'm trying to also incorporate other old stuff as mentioned above.

Check out these layouts from this past week, and see if you can pick out my old stash on them!!!

If you'd like to join me in my personal challenge, please jump on board, with a link to your own blog, so I can check out your old stash at work too! :)

A Friday Surprise...

...is coming this week over at The Scrapping Nook Forum! :)
I will be opening a special little challenge on Friday Sept. 11th over on the GEneral Scrapping Chit Chat forum. There will be room for FIVE participants. If you haven't popped over to the Nook yet, stop by and see if you'd like to play!

I have a few more layouts and cards to add here from my DT kit, but I'm on the wrong computer to do them now. I'll have to pop back. They are all in the Scrapping Nook Gallery though!
Have a great day!

Labour Day already???

How did that happen??? What happend to my summer? It feels like it JUST got here....and now it's gone. :0(

This is the first year I have mixed feelings about school starting. Every year until now, I've dreaded it way more than the kids. This year, I'm a little excited, a lot nervous for both of my boys, and also still sad too. I love love love having my kids home with me, but I know this is good for them, and once they settle in they really enjoy school. I'm hoping to do some volunteer with Breakfast club again this year, and since Sarah is so much happier in the day, my days when both of the boys are in school should be much easier than I'm accustomed to. ;0)

Now, onto the good scrappy stuff! :)

Patti and Elia over at The Scrapping Nook have asked me to be a GDT member for the months of Sept. through November! I'm so excite to be a part of her fabulous team! Jen Backler, Tara, Deena and my big sister Karen Thompson are the full time DT at the Nook, and they produce some gorgeous stuff!!
I got my AMAZING kit the last weekend of August and got straight to work! :)
My Little Yellow Bicycle Autumn Bliss line is absolutely gorgeous! I'd tell you hop on over to the Nook right now and get yourself some...but the store is currently closed. {{{{CRY}}}} I had so much in my cart to check out too!!! They had an electrical fire in early Sept. and the store is closed until further notice while they sort everything out. Thank Heaven no one was hurt, and I'm praying that this all goes smoothly for them. The Forums and gallery are still open and running though, so hop on over there for some awesome inspiration, and say hello!

Here's what I've posted so far from my beautiful kit, and I have another few layouts and some cards to post yet as well!

And a few others that have not been from the DT kit, but that I've been having fun with anyway.

this one infact
was a lift of the fabulous Jen Backler, from the Nook DT, also on Gel-a-tins DT!

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Scrappin'!

Getting back to it!

Our 2 year old daughter has been diagnosed with a gluten sensitivity this summer and so I've spent a LOT of time in our sorry state of a kitchen (in MAJOR need of a reno) working on making gluten free snacks and meals palatable for her...and me. lol A few weeks after we got her diagnosis, my Dh's grandfather passed away, and between these two happenings I was completely de-railed as far as scrapping goes!

BUT Sweet Rosa from over at The Paper Passion sent me a lovely prize I didn't even realize I'd won, and it got the mojo flowing again! Thanks Rosa! ;)

This is the layout that I did with the goodies she sent!

I'm also blessed to have a load of fabulous online friends over at Scrapbooking Fanatics lovingly referred to here as "ScrapFan" most commonly! And since they took the summer off of their bi-weekly FNC's or Friday Night Crops I was in MAJOR withdrawal! lol
I am 'hosting' another one that this time is a week long for the end of summer!
Head on over there and check it out! There aren't an overwhelming number of challenges, and it's one of the most fabulous group of ladies anywhere to be found!

Also, The Scrapping Nook is having a HUGE contest all summer and I've finally managed to do a respectable number of their challenges last week! lol

And last but certainly not least, ScrapShotz always has totally inspiring card and DT challenges! My 3 month term as a card crew member is nearly up! I was so thrilled to be a part of the card crew for the past three months, and would LOVE to do it again sometime if the opportunity presents!!

Some of what I've been doing here!

More Basic Grey

I don't think I've ever used collection packs this much!
I'm totally in love with the lemonade right now!!
And some of the papers really mix well between the lemonade and June Bug lines! ;)

This one is June Bug. The little girls face is blacked out as we've since moved and haven't kept in touch, so for privacy, I've kept her anonomous!

This is a favourite of mine! My mom and DD at the beach. This one is a hybrid, with both lemonade and june bug!

More lemonade!!
